Kotpad Sari is also known as Khadi Sari. These are naturally dyed with Aul or Indian Madder. The coloured borders, stripes and little butties on the saree get color shade from Aul dye. The handloom of Kotpad is titled on the basis of the village called Kotpad in Koraput District of Odisha. Kotpad handloom is a plant dyed fabric woven by the tribal weavers of the Mirgan community of kotpad village. It has a lustrous weave which makes it perfect for any occasion wear. This product contains handloom tag certificate from handloom association of India.
The speciality of these sarees lies in the fact that it has been prepared out of natural resources which are not at all toxic & harmful and hence it is beneficial for the skin. The motifs woven on the body and anchal (pallu) somehow reflects the culture of that area. These motifs are woven by the intricate extra weft technique.
