The name Pasapali is derived from pasā or gambling games using Chess board. These saris have intricate check patterns of contrast colors resembling the chess boards which gives it its name.

Description :
Tie and dye technique is used to design the motifs on this saree. Traditional rudraksha motifs are woven using a dobby shedding device and temple pattern is chosen for the borders. Pallu has ikat flower motifs woven as multiple horizontal stripes.
