A Sambalpuri Saree is a traditional hand-woven ikat saree, herein the warp and the weft are tie-dyed before weaving.
These handloom sari are weaved mainly in the Sambalpur, Balanngir , Sodepur, Bargarh district of Odisha, India. The name Pasapali is derived from pasā or gambling games using Chess board. This saris have intricate check patterns of contrast colors resembling the chess boards on the borders , which gives it such name.
